Originally it was only Steve MacLallan’s attempt to improve his german vocabulary. The „one word a day“- procedure is due to his slowness. The strange words he generated because of his inability to understand the german language. So he started to build his own words for a better description of the world as he sees it. The last stimulus to make paintings out of his vocabulary made the quote of New York psychiatrist Zack Snider „Disaster starts with pleasure. Because full of pleasure we jump into disaster.“
It is an ongoing project consisting of 365 words at the moment from the first year in written and spoken form. Most of the words build their image in the head of the observer. Some of them are transcribed into paintings by Steve MacLallan. It’s his form of bringing scottish culture imperialism to his new home country northern Germany. And maybe his only way to fight the flatness there.
