Different cultures have different icons. Noone in the world is interested in the death of a single provincial politician like Uwe Barschel in a bathtub in switzerland. Icons for a scotsman like MacLallan are massacres in the highlands or an Edinburgh postie like Sean Connery as a british undercover agent. A crucified Jesus doesn’t mean very much to a Hindu.
Nevertheless it’s interesting to search all over the world for uninteresting icons. Just to improve his understanding of what is interesting for people from different corners of the world.
And in the end it’s fun painting them and combining them with not understandable words. He hopes to keep them all because noone wants to have something like that on his wall. Up to now he was successful with this approach.
